A Certified Life Coach supports clients on a range of professional and personal goals. Life Coaching is different from counseling, therapy and mentoring. Coaches support clients with specific professional projects, personal goals, transitions and challenges. In the broadest sense, Ruth partners with her clients to identify realistic goals and a pathway to achieving those goals, including motivations, obstacles and specific steps along the path. Life Coaching is always looking forward, empowering the client through confidence-building, organization of thoughts, objective perspectives and insights. It can be a very powerful process and can work for all aspects of one’s personal and professional life, as long as that person is open to working through it and putting the time in.
Academic Success Coaching, for high school and college, helps students to create stronger, more streamlined systems for studying, communicating and self-advocating. Together with her client (the student), Ruth builds a trusting partnership that allows for open communication, appropriate goal setting and the development of exciting new life skills. In addition, Ruth has specialized training in coaching for individuals with ADHD/ADD and Executive Functioning challenges. This training has enabled Ruth to delve a bit deeper into how academic and life challenges are further affected by the neurological development associated with these diagnoses.
